The January 30- February 3 European Robotic League (ERL) competition will be held in BioRobotics Institute, Sant’Anna School, Peccioli facility. It is a real apartment suitable for research into innovative person-centred assistive robotics technologies.

The event promoted in cooperation with the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering of Rome- La Sapienza, celebrates Europe as a leader in robotics technology development by offering several engaging competitions featuring robots which support with daily activities. Providing a multi-disciplinary challenging environment, the event in Peccioli will be a “Robot’s Got Talent Competition” focusing on the growth of robotics in the world and on the design and development of assistive robotics that can be deployed in people’s homes.

The European Robotic League (ERL) is an innovative concept for robot competitions. The ERL is composed of multiple Local Tournaments, held in different research labs across Europe, with certified test beds, and a few competitions as part of Major Tournaments, such as RoboCup.

The ERL Emergency Robots is a civilian, outdoor robotics competition, with a focus on realistic, multi-domain emergency response scenarios.

The competition sees international teams b-it-bots@Home - Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, Germany; homer@UniKoblenz - University of Koblenz, Germany; SPQReL - Sapienza University of Rome, Italy and Lincoln University, UK, attending the tournament.

The Task Benchmarks to be performed are the following:

  • TBM1: Getting to know my home
  • TBM4: Visit My Home (shared with RoboCup@Home)
  • TBM5: General Purpose Service Robot (GPSR) (shared with RoboCup@Home)
  • FBM1: Object Perception
  • FBM3: Speech Recognition
